From Founder

Let me start by saying congratulations on your pregnancy!

I’m aNNi, the founder of Guya and your personal guide through this course and your pregnancy. As a mother of 2 toddlers, I remember both the excitement and apprehension I felt during my first pregnancy and fear not, I am here to demystify pregnancy and labor, debunk myths and prepare you for this experience.

Before starting Guya, I worked in tertiary hospitals as a general physician in Addis caring for elderly patients, pregnant women, children and post surgical patients. In both my personal life and at work I frequently get asked questions regarding pregnancy, labor, and pain management from moms-to-be. This made me realize that most of us get advice from our mothers, grandmothers, aunts or girlfriends and there is no formal resource to prepare BOTH the mom-to-be and dad-to-be. Hence the birth of Guya.

The classes I provide are rooted in my medical expertise, research, and personal experience as a mother. The first course I have designed is called Prepared Childbirth and it aims to teach you ways for safe and healthy birth, labor pain management and basic newborn care. But this isn’t all. I have multiple other courses in the pipeline covering a range of relevant topics, so stay tuned.

We work with new parents to find a healthy balance in the physically and emotionally demanding weeks of new parenthood in order make this time in your life safe, peaceful and stress-free.

This support can continue on through the first year of life and all the way up to early childhood with dedicated and custom support.
